This is what Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick stated during an earnings call. Rockstar will still put out new content for GTA Online, but all bets are off when it comes to a whole new game for this year.

Earlier in the call, Take-Two CFO Lanie Goldstein stated that a 75/25 revenue split between 2K Games and Rockstar Games labels for the current fiscal is to be expected, further confirming the absence of a new Rockstar release for 2016.

Meanwhile, Take-Two is expected to make a big announcement for the upcoming E3 2016. Speculations point towards a follow-up to the 2010 hit Red Dead Redemption—a franchise Take-Two considers as “permanent” in their library.

There was also a map believed to be from Red Dead Redemption 2 that was leaked last April, furthering rumors regarding the much-awaited title. From what the leak had suggested, it could be a prequel instead of a direct sequel.

It’s not confirmed yet as of now what Rockstar Games is planning to put out next. Whether the next full release will be a follow-up to an existing franchise or a whole new IP, it’s still not known.
